What I used - Aluminum Stair Nosing from Home Depot - about $6.00 for 47"
I stuffed the two sets of wires down the crack on the left side of the vent. The Temp pick-up is about 1/2 way down the fairing - in a sun protected place - but exposed to the wind.
I have quick disconnects for power if and when it will rain so I can remove from the bike.. The unit is velcro-ed to the stair nosing.
I removed the top two screws and used a 4 x 30 mm hex head from Lowe's - and then I used an additional piece of double sided sticky tape to help clear the hex - head height.
I had mounted previous to the area just above the headlight adjust knob - but could not see the numbers with out bobbing and weaving my head to clear the handle bar.
